Leather is a natural material, and like skin, it needs occasional moisture to stay supple. Without it, leather can dry out, stiffen, and crack over time. A few minutes of care every couple of months goes a long way in keeping your cat's collar looking and feeling great.
What You'll Need
- Your leather cat collar
- A soft, clean cloth (or your hands!)
- Our leather conditioner
How to Condition Your Collar
-
Clean first.
Wipe down the collar with a dry or slightly damp cloth to remove surface dirt. Let it dry completely. -
Apply the conditioner.
Using your fingers or a cloth, apply a small amount of conditioner to the leather — a little goes a long way! -
Work it in.
Rub the conditioner into the leather in small circular motions, paying attention to any creases or stitched areas. -
Let it absorb.
Set the collar aside for a few minutes while the leather soaks it in. -
Buff off any excess.
Use a clean cloth to remove any remaining residue.
How Often? Every 1–3 months is plenty for most collars, or a bit more frequently if the collar sees a lot of moisture.
